Case Study - Transition to the next Leadership Role

The xpand-pro approach consisted of a threefold strategy:

- Assessing Mr A's leadership skills, experience and specific knowledge. A personality test (DISC©), xpand-pro value assessment, leadership inventory and participation in Open Circle Business Coaching (OCBC©) delivered a detailed picture of his potential at these different levels.

- Identifying the main learning and developing lever. It became clear that Mr A's personal values which were key to the success of his career within the company, did not match with a few of the core convictions of the participants of the Central Executive Board in USA. Therefore a set of four goal-oriented executive coaching sessions were agreed upon to reframe the understanding of the "critical" values set in USA. Without weakening Mr A's own set of values, he identified and trained behaviour and leadership styles to excel in the forthcoming position.

- Forging an organisational setup in Europe. xpand-pro facilitated three developmental workshops where Mr A and the top managers in Europe designed a value-oriented specific setup and prepared its implementation. This setup secured the cultural identity and strengths of the European branches, manufacturing plants and points of sales but optimised synergies through global processes rolled out by HQ in USA.

The outcome of these measures showed an immediate but also long-lasting effect. Immediately after being promoted, Mr A deployed the new organisational setup. A set of corporate principles was developed and communicated in USA and Europe, with Mr A in the drivers seat for the team. This allowed Mr A to build the bridge between his own values and convictions and the corporate principles which have lead the global company to success in previous years.
